Kelly Ripa Opens Up About Her Personal Struggles
The beloved “Live with Kelly and Mark” presenter, Kelly Ripa, recently shared an intimate detail about her decision to start therapy at the age of forty.
In a heartfelt and emotional discussion on her podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” Ripa revealed that her journey into therapy was triggered by an unexpectedly emotional moment with a friend at a bar mitzvah.
When a friend asked how Ripa was doing, she started crying uncontrollably, which led her to seek professional help. Reflecting on the event, Ripa chuckled and said, “I started sobbing, and I wasn’t entirely sure why.” Her friend recognized she needed support and suggested she see a therapist.
Ripa explained that therapy provided her with profound insights into self-discovery. “I truly became aware of who I am,” she shared. “I finally realized why I found it so difficult to accept any kind of success.” This honest revelation sheds light on Ripa’s ongoing struggles with social anxiety disorder, a topic she explores further in her upcoming book, “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories.”
In her memoir, Ripa discusses the daily challenges she faces due to social anxiety. She clarifies, “People assume that because I appear to be an extrovert on television, I am an extrovert in real life, which is not the case. Whoa! They call it acting for a reason.”
Beyond therapy, Ripa’s reflections touch on her broader emotional issues. She candidly admits that she often cries in the shower, providing a glimpse into the more personal struggles she faces.
